TCI Driving Written Test 2 Practice

In construction zones, the priority is to reduce risk for workers and other road users by adjusting your driving behavior to the changing traffic conditions. Slowing down gives you more time to react to sudden stops, workers, and equipment near the roadway. Signs indicate how the road layout or speed limits have changed, so following them is essential for safe navigation through the work area. Merging as directed helps keep traffic flowing smoothly and avoids abrupt lane changes that can cause crashes. Staying alert for workers and equipment means you’re watching not just for signs but for people and machinery that may be operating close to or on the roadway, sometimes with limited visibility.

Speeding up to maintain flow can create dangerous gaps in reaction time. Ignoring signs and signals puts everyone at risk and is illegal. Only watching for signals from workers misses important information from signs and the overall traffic pattern, reducing your awareness of hazards.
